SteaMECH Live Steam Marine Engine Model

A twin cylinder double acting slide valve engine typical of that used for powering marine craft up to the middle of last century. The engine is fitted with twin Stevensons reversing linkage making it both a practical engine and very impressive to watch in motion.
The engine is available only as drawings and a kit of laser cut profile components for a model engineer to construct themselves. As such, the engine makes an ideal project for someone with a small lathe such as a Myford ML7, and the necessary hand tools.

The engine is constructed entirely without the use of castings - all components are profile cut or machined from solid. The drawings are fully detailed and easy to follow. A large amount of fiddly work is involved in cutting out all of the linkages and other profiles for this engine, which is why we make available mild steel laser cut profiles of these components. These require only removal from their 'tree' and minor finishing. The profiles are accurately cut and give the builder a very useful head start on construction - saving many hours of work and also improving the finished result.
